Could it be that they don't care about JW's because Scientology has actually ordered people to be beaten and killed if necessary? Call the JW's evil if you want but they haven't gone to those links for people who leave. Imagine if the Raymond Franz of Scientology left? Actually that happened to L. Ron Hubbard Jr. and they were trying to silence him physically he even had to change his name and hide his where abouts. He also recanted his story under very suspicious circumstances.

by Mickey mouse ini have been following the work of the group "anonymous" who are campaigning to bring the cult of scientology under closer scrutiny.
although i don't necessarily agree with all of their methods they have certainly been effective in attracting the media's attention which has in turn cast a spotlight on scientology.
on the whole it seems that is something which has yet to happen to the wbts.. .

Haha I wonder if they used my example for the Myspace thing. I posted a myspace blog and it circulated like wild fire among JW's. My brother even got some anonymous email saying that he shouldn't listen to what I have to say over myspace. WTF?? Of course to some idiot non technological JW they probably think that just by blogging I am out looking for young JW's to trap!

Apple bottom jeansss, boots with the furrrrrr...... Now that is what I want to see at the ASSembly!
Actually I have heard the drinking one before at a DA. It was told if you have just one drink every night before you go to bed then your an alcoholic and there is no way to argue out of it.I think the Myspace thing is funny, I heard of an account in Florida where an Elder was posing as a JW trying to trick them in to confessing things to him! Watch out for those JW's pretending to be young boys trying to find out bad things about you!!

Can any who grew up JW relate to this?
by Mickey mouse inconfession time!
i was raised in the troof and therefor never "chose" it.
i find it really hard to get my head around why anyone would ever join this organization as an adult.

I agree with Layla, it's just human nature. Plus there is a rebellion factor to being a JW that plays in it too. It kind of reminds me of this http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/2008/01/18/2-religions-that-their-parents-dont-belong-to/ but on a multi cultural level.

Being a Jehovah's Witness Can Make You Fat
by WTWizard inas there has been some talk lately of a crackdown on obesity (in the form of the great boasting session), it might be time for a thread about how being one of jehovah's witlesses can lend one to becoming fat.. first, my personal situation.
when i was in college, i gained the 4x15 pounds that were supposed to be gained in college, and it was only my sophomore semester.
it was legitimately my fault.

junction-guy I am just saying what it appears to active witnesses. This is one of those theories that is so petty it looks ridiculous. Granted I don't think WTWizard's intentions are for this at all. It's just what it looks like. It's just amazing how many people immediately jump on the negative bandwagon as soon as they get a chance. At some point the Society can not be blamed.

This is all regional. In my Hall physical activity was encouraged. Sleep was not limited in the "cult". Again it's just a theory, nothing more.

There are also those like my Mom who see the JW's as a sign from God. Her story was of praying about finding the answer to a scripture. She had gone to her priest and he told her to pray about it. Well low and behold during a prayer the JW's came to the door using that exact scripture. So it's only natural to see that as a sign. I don't really blame her for embracing it. She always remarks how it was life changing, much how when we see what appears to be the light it's life changing for us. Every single person here who has officially or unofficially left knows that feeling of just "knowing". The same is said for those who come in. They have that same "knowing" feeling, which is something extremely hard to break.

The only problem is that there is no proof the religion makes or causes people to gain weight. All just speculation and theory. From my perspective in my Hall the healthy far outweighed (no pun intended) the obese overweight people. I just think this crackpot "theory" is one that makes ex-JW's look like angry nut jobs.

appellate court denies request to intervene in molestation case.
an appellate court today denied a request to intervene in the case of a jehovah's witness facing child molestation charges.

Could this be used a legal precedent to sue or at the very least have a lawyer present at a JC? IF it is indeed deemed a fact finding mission it would seem you could legally sue if they didn't find the "facts".

This is complete crap. To try to blame the Watchtower Society for your weight problems is simply ridiculous. There are just as many healthy JW pioneers in the org who could claim being a JW makes you thin. As I stated before my Dad found time to walk despite always being active in the org. Let alone the argument that Hall Builds encourage strenuous activity. Sorry but this is just one of those threads that makes those leaving the org look nutso. Must the org really be blamed for every problem around?
